Society of Operations Management (SOM) aims to promote activities that help generate, consolidate, and disseminate knowledge in the field of manufacturing and service operations and related areas. It also promotes the usage of manufacturing and service operations concepts for improving work standards and performance in the public and private sectors. SOM organizes research, conferences, seminars, and training in manufacturing and service operations and related areas to create a strong link between academics and practitioners in the field of manufacturing and service operations. About IIM Shillong

Founded in 2007, IIM Shillong is the seventh IIM established by the Government of India in the city of Shillong, Meghalaya. Recognized as an institute of national importance under the IIM Act 2017, IIM Shillong’s mission is to generate and disseminate knowledge in all aspects of management education for sustainable development and to develop innovative leaders with strong ethical values. About Shillong

Shillong is a hill station in the north-eastern part of India and the capital of Meghalaya, which means "The Abode of Clouds". It is said that the rolling hills around the town reminded the European settlers of Scotland. Hence, Shillong is known as the "Scotland of the East." Shillong is connected to Assam, Manipur, Tripura, West Bengal, and New Delhi through direct flights. Shillong can also be reached by taxi from Guwahati Airport/Railway Station which is about 120 km away. Guwahati Airport is well-connected to most of the major cities in India including Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Helicopter services are also available between Guwahati and Shillong. 

Call for papers

Every organization, whether for profit or not for profit, has to manage resources effectively due to the ever-changing business dynamics and environmental risks. The role of resilience in operations management becomes crucial when it comes to the effective and efficient use of resources and their transformation into the desired goods and services. In this competitive world, businesses are competing in terms of products or the service they provide and how they manage the operations and supply chain. On the other side, businesses are also worried about the environment while managing product or service life cycle throughout the supply chain. Therefore, the 26th Annual SOM conference (SOM 2023) focuses on sustainable and resilient operations to help profit and non-profit organizations improve customer service and reduce associated costs and waste. SOM 2023 provides a knowledge-sharing platform and encourages researchers and industry practitioners to discuss and share their ideas, knowledge, and thoughts, which will help the business become sustainable and resilient.

Submission Guidelines

A 1500-word extended abstract will be considered for selecting the papers that will be presented at the conference. Abstracts must clearly state the objective of the study, methodology, key results, discussion, implications, and key references. Only those abstracts that obtain the reviewers' acceptance after being reviewed blindly will be selected for presentation at the conference. It is expected that at least one author will attend the conference and deliver the paper if the abstract is accepted. The article must be unique and must not be submitted to a journal or another conference simultaneously. Please note that all of the authors' affiliations (full affiliations without abbreviations) and the contact information for the presenting author should be included in the abstracts. The similarity index for the submitted extended abstract should not be more than 10% excluding references.
